You may think that Monte’s is on a crusade to blur the boundaries between pub and restaurant food, dishing up an eclectic menu of tasting plates, pub grub, and modern Australian fare.
There are smaller dishes that would serve equally well as bar snacks or entrees, such as aromatic mixed olives with fennel & rosemary or crispy white bait with grilled bread. For something more substantial on offer includes an eye fillet steak prepared how you wish or a Beef Massaman Curry.
The Pizza list changes daily and includes such temptations as Sorpresa Salami, Fennel & Olive or a Tomato, Mushroom and Blue Cheese.
Montes has the largest range of beer this town has seen with such gems as Little Creatures and Vale Ale and a cider like no other in a Hills Cider on tap. Hiding away in the fridge is an array of bottles from around the world with the imported beer all imported. No brewed under licence Becks or Stella here. It’s the real stuff and the difference is amazing.
It boasts a decent wine list with price ranges from Babich a NZ Savy Blanc right up to a Bottle of Moet & Chandon.
